Glasgow Polo Club’s OsKar Injured….

by Gaynor Hutton on April 5, 2011

Sadly Glasgow Polo Club started the 2011 season with some bad news. The most famous pony on the yard, OsKar, was found in the field at the end of February with a very nasty cut to his back leg.

OsKar had to be rushed to Glasgow Vet School where he underwent emergency surgery to flush the joint and clean the wound – when horses have deep wounds there is a high risk of infection which can be fatal to horses.

Happily OsKar seemed to sail throughout the operation and after a couple of tense weeks was given the “all clear” and returned home – complete with his plastered leg!! The attention he received at Glasgow Vet School was amazing and thanks to all who helped Oskar (and his Mummy!) through this worrying time.

More information, including photos, can be seen on www.projectoskar.org – enjoy!
