Rules Weekend…!

The Blue Book

Although not generally the polo player’s favourite, the famous HPA “Blue Book” makes up an important part of our game and to this end Glasgow Polo dedicated the weekend of 27th and 28th November 2010 to learning the rules and having fun while we did it!

The fearsome weather did little to dampen the spirits of those who battled through the weather to reach us and in the end the snow actually helped – by leaving a line exactly where the ball had travelled, therefore making it very easy to see and to explain each play.

Rules were main point of the weekend with chukkas being played out at a walk to ensure that everyone kept up and was aware of what was happening and why fouls had been blown. All involved, both newcomers and experienced players alike, declared that they had learned a great deal over the weekend and vowed to do it again!
